It is with great pleasure that TEDxPSUBerks bring the TED experience in a TEDx format to the Penn State Berks campus for the very first time. The Student Veterans Organization, formed in 2013, regularly meets to serve student veterans on campus and help craft a vision and plan for this unique event, occurring on Friday, November 14, 2014 @ 10:30am.
TEDxPSUBerks, a one-of-a-kind conference where we openly discuss big ideas and challenges that affect our community. This event highlights an impressive lineup including speakers who are not typically heard from locally, but who are doing incredibly creative, innovative, and provocative work in their fields.
Our goal is to create a memorable experience to connect and bring diverse disciplines and backgrounds together around new ideas. In the service of unleashing the thoughtful dialogue and passionate energy needed to promote creative thinking and community-based problem solving, that will improve the quality of life on the Penn State Berks Campus and beyond.

TED was first held in Monterey, California, in 1984. In 2001, Chris Anderson's Sapling Foundation acquired TED from the founder, Richard Saul Wurman. In recent years, TED has expanded to include an international conference, TEDGlobal; media initiatives, including TED Talks and TED.com; and the TED Prize.
TED is an annual event that brings together the world’s leading thinkers and doers, to share ideas that matter in any discipline—technology, entertainment, design, science, humanities, business, development. "TED" stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design — three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. Moreover, the event is broader still, showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline. Attendees have called it "the ultimate brain spa" and "a four-day journey into the future." The diverse audience — CEOs, scientists, creatives, philanthropists — is almost as extraordinary as the speakers, which have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono.

The TEDxPSUBerks Mission
Goals for TEDxPSUBerks
Avoid wearing the TED brand colors head-to-toe unless you are on staff for the event (i.e. all red, all white or all black) – accents are fine. This will prevent you and your outfit from blending in or disappearing into the stage layout or backdrop. Royal blue can be an ideal color choice to wear because it compliments TED’s red, white or black primary logo colors.
